Statement of Senator Don White

Polyvision Layoffs

"I am extremely saddened and disappointed by Polyvision's decision regarding its Dixonville facility.

"I am saddened by the impact this will have on the families of the many employees who have provided many years of dedicated service to the company, only to see their loyalty casually discarded. I pledge to work with all of the resources available in the Commonwealth to assist these displaced workers and families.

"Further, I am disappointed in Polyvision. Over the past several months, I met with company officials on a number of occasions in a good faith effort to resolve the issues the company claimed were impeding its ability to do business in Pennsylvania. Recently, I again called on the company with an offer to assemble a team of economic development experts, with the intent of working in a cooperative manner to find a solution that improves the plant's efficiency while maintaining its labor force.

"As we strive to help the displaced employees of Polyvision, we must continue working to bring new companies here and to retain the many quality employers who provide the jobs that ensure the economic vitality of our region."
