For Immediate Release Two Communities Receive Grants for Park ImprovementsCenter Twp. gets $84,200, Young Township gets $44,500 Two Indiana County townships will receive Community Conservation Partnerships Program Grants from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, according to state Senator Don White and State Representative Dave Reed. Center Township will receive $84,200, for the FMC Sports Complex and Young Township will receive $44,500 for Township Park. "These grants are an important investment in our local communities," Senator White said. "Whether the money is being used to install lighting or make a park more ADA accessible, local residents are the ultimate beneficiaries of these grants." "It's gratifying to see both of these communities receive state funding," said Representative Reed. "These parks are prime recreational assets for many local residents and the improvements are well warranted." The Center Township grant will be used to install lighting, ADA access, fencing, drainage, landscaping, sign and related site improvements. "This is the second application by Center Township for this funding and this time they were successful" Senator White said. "This grant is a tribute to the perseverance of the community and its dedication to this project. Working together as local officials and state legislators, we were able to convince the DCNR to provide this important financial assistance." The Young Township grant will be used for the renovation of an access road and pavilions, installation of ADA access, utilities, landscaping, sign and related site improvements.
