For Immediate Release State Senator Don White, Chairman of the
Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, issued the following
statement in response to Governor Rendell’s nomination of
Joel Ario to serve as Pennsylvania’s Insurance Commissioner. "I would like to welcome Mr. Ario to
Pennsylvania and extend my appreciation to the Governor for
his efforts to fill this important position, especially
during this critical time. We have a number of significant
issues at hand, such as the impending merger of Highmark and
Independence Blue Cross. "As Chairman of the Banking and Insurance
Committee, I am committed to ensuring that we undertake and
perform the due diligence required to be certain that Mr.
Ario is qualified and capable of addressing the many complex
issues associated with all aspects of the insurance industry
in Pennsylvania. "I also look forward to gathering input,
information, comments, questions and concerns from the
members of the Banking and Insurance Committee and from all
members of the Senate. I sincerely hope that Mr. Ario's
views and vision for the Insurance Department are similar to
those held by my colleagues." Contact: Joe Pittman | |||
