The Senate Banking and Insurance Committee will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, in Hearing Room 1 of the State Capitol North Office Building to hear testimony on competition in the health insurance market, announced Senator Don White, Committee Chairman.

"This is the first in what I expect will be a series of public hearings regarding the state of the health care insurance industry in Pennsylvania," said Senator White. "I believe that it is appropriate to start our review by focusing on the competitive environment in the marketplace."

Scheduled testifiers include: Dr. Lawton Burns, Director of the Wharton Center for Health Management & Economics, University of Pennsylvania; Sam Marshall, President of the Insurance Federation of Pennsylvania; Paula A. Bussard, Senior Vice President of the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania; Dr. Bruce MacLeod, Chairman of the Board of the Pennsylvania Medical Society; and, Kevin Shivers, State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business.
