State grant lights up FMC complex

Turn up the lights! The renovations to the FMC Sports Complex in Center Township, Indiana County, are wrapping up thanks in part to a recent state grant, according to State Senator Don White, R-41st District.

The Homer City Area Athletic Booster Club hosted a press conference on Tuesday, July 17th, to show off  new lighting and other upgrades made to the complex.

"I applaud the booster club and Center Township for their efforts to upgrade this recreational facility," said Senator White. "The $84,200 state grant is an important and worthwhile investment in this $175,000 project to improve the facility and install lighting at the American Legion/High School baseball field."

The field will play host to two major Junior American Legion Tournaments beginning with the Western Regional July 28th through Aug. 1st and the State Championship Tournament set for Aug. 7th through the 11th.

"These tournaments will provide an opportunity to showcase the efforts made to upgrade the FMC Sports Complex," Senator White said, "But maybe even more important is the fact that  this field will be available for  future use by local residents of all ages."
