Highmark/Independence Blue Cross Officials to Detail Merger Proposal Before Committee

The Senate Banking and Insurance Committee will hold a public hearing at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, in Hearing Room 1 of the North Office Building, Harrisburg, to take testimony from Highmark Inc. and Independence Blue Cross regarding the proposed merger of the two health insurance providers.

"The concerns of Banking and Insurance Committee about this proposed merger are clear and well documented. I look forward to hearing from the officials of the two organizations and expect that they will be prepared to fully answer the questions we have about this proposal," Senator White said.

The hearing is open to the public and the media is cordially invited to attend the proceedings.
